BIG LOVE

Big Love is a tragicomic, modern re-telling of one of the western world's oldest plays, The Danaids by Aeschylus. Fifty brides flee an arranged marriage to their fifty cousins and seek refuge in a villa on the coast of Italy. When the fifty grooms catch up with the brides demanding they honor the contract, mayhem ensues: the brides and grooms sing, dance, throw epic tantrums, make vulnerable confessions, and eat cake. Big Love deals with themes of refugeeism, gender roles, dysfunctional relationships, and ultimately love. It questions the worth of the institution of marriage and shows us there are no easy answers.

Isaac Iskra - FAUVE

“Fauve” : A story of redemption, of second chances, and of the power of one person to make a difference.

In this coming-of-age tale, we follow the life of a young man who has given up his personal dreams to help others in his community. When he is about to commit suicide, he reflects on his own life and after an epiphany, realizes his life has meaning and matters to those around him as well.

The goal of the performance is to bring awareness to the staggering rate of suicide for those on the Autisim Spectrum.

LEMONS

Exploring how social media, capitalism, and “positive thinking” affects our individual and collective relationship to grief, Lemons is a darkly funny four-person play centering on an obsession with a fitness guru's instagram account. A grieving woman presents a personal essay that quickly devolves into theatrical mayhem as her carefully constructed argument is interrupted and undermined by ghosts, fantasies, dance, and doom scrolling. Lemons is an examination of female strength, both physical and emotional, in the face of capitalist patriarchy. Exploring the intersection of capitalism and wellness culture/self-care, which is overwhelmingly marketed to women, Lemons looks at how societal expectations have come to inform our relationship to grief, our identities, our bodies, and each other.

COMPASS

What do systems of power in America today look like? How can we envision them anew? Critically acclaimed theater company Ripe Time's latest work, COMPASS, tackles the broken systems of patriarchal power in the United States through their signature visually arresting storytelling.

COMPASS is a gathering. A celebration of collective action. Through embodied, interview-based storytelling, we imagine new models of advocacy, leadership and intersectional feminism. Together, we experience a multi-sensory, muscular journey of transforming how we think about leadership in America.
