This workshop by Esraa Warda delves into the traditional Chaoui (tachawit) dance, originating from the Amazigh subgroup in North Africa, specifically the Aures mountains in East Algeria. Chaoui dance embodies maternal and grounded qualities, symbolizing the tribe's reverence for nature and agriculture. With its distinctive "belly bounce," characterized by strong pelvic isolations, participants will explore this core movement, fundamental footwork, and establish a connection with the rhythmic heartbeat of the Chaouia.
Please dress in loose comfortable clothing and bring 2 scarfs (one that can tie around your waist, and one as a prop)
